The Ideal Skin Concept – How to find your skin type

Every woman’s desire is to have the ‘ideal, flawless skin’. The definition for ideal flawless skin is different for each one, some want it wrinkle-free and some devoid of imperfections.

What is ideal skin?

Ideal Skin is one that has the least pores, an even tone, good complexion, and an even texture. In order to achieve this, the most important step is to first understand your skin type. Each one’s skin type varies. So it’s important to understand your own skin in order to choose the right products to enhance it. The market is flooded with skincare products from serums to moisturizers. Remember, one product does not suit all.

Skin type can be influenced by many aspects, especially the weather – for example, in summers skin tends to get oilier whereas in winters the skin tends to get a bit dry and dehydrated. Apart from the weather, the other factors influencing your skin type could be your food habits, medication, pollution that tends to make skin sensitive, and aging.

Natural oil production reduces causing dryness this can increase the tendency of appearance of age spots and wrinkles. Hormonal changes can increase the oil production on the skin causing breakouts that lead to scaring.

What are Face Zones?

Our face has 2 zones that need to be considered in the skin type analysis:
T-zone – It’s the area that includes the forehead, nose, chin, and a bit of the cheek.
C-zone – It’s the area that includes the upper cheekbone, jawline, and the base of the chin.

Analyzing Your Skin: The Right Way

The ideal method to analyze one’s skin is to ensure it is well-cleansed and avoid any trace of makeup. The environmental conditions influence the skins type, hence ensure not to use the air-conditioner or heaters while analyzing your skin. Wash your face with a soap-free cleanser and tissue dry. Once dry let your skin rest for an hour and during that time avoid touching your face as the oil secretion from the hands can influence the facial skin. After an hour the skin will tend to come to its normal state and analysis of your skin would be more accurate.

Types of Skin

  • Normal Skin: Some pores may be visible but they would not be too oily nor dry.
  • Dry Skin: Dry Skin will appear dry and may feel stretched
  • Oily Skin: Pore would be visible and T-zone & C-zone both would be oily. factors of stress, humidity, excess heat, and hormonal changes could influence this condition.
  • Combination Skin: T-zone will be Oily and C-zone normal.
  • Sensitive Skin: May appear a bit red, there could be itching, dryness, and a bit of irritation.

This could help determine your skin. Since the skin is highly influenced by the environment, it is important to repeat the skin analysis 3-4 times a year so that products choice could be adapted to the skin’s needs.
